Postpartum Care

The weeks and months after birth are some of the most physically and emotionally demanding of a woman's life. I work with new mothers through the full first year postpartum - supporting your recovery, your mood, your energy, and your baby.

Birth is extraordinary. But what comes after - the broken sleep, the physical depletion, the emotional rollercoaster, the pressure to bounce back - is something most women are profoundly underprepared for.

Postpartum recovery isn't just about the first six weeks. True recovery, particularly nutritional and hormonal, takes much longer. The first year is a period of enormous physical and emotional change, and the support you get during this time matters more than most people realise.

At Little Bloom, I work with women from birth through to twelve months postpartum, using herbal medicine, nutrition, and a food-first approach to support your body as it heals and rebuilds.

"The postpartum period is one of the most nutrient-depleted times in a woman's life, and it's also the time when she's expected to function at her absolute best. The women I work with are often exhausted, overwhelmed, and quietly struggling - not because something is wrong with them, but because their bodies are depleted and under-supported. That's exactly what we're here to address." - Caitlin Stores, Clinical Herbalist (BComp Med, Adv Dip WHM), NSW, Australia

According to SANE Australia (2023), perinatal mental illness affects up to one in five new mothers in Australia. Mood changes, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm in the postpartum period are often rooted in a combination of hormonal shifts, nutrient depletion, sleep disruption, and inadequate recovery support - all areas where clinical herbal and nutritional care can make a meaningful difference. In my clinical experience, true recovery - physically and emotionally - extends well beyond the standard six-week check. The first year is a period of ongoing change, and the women who feel most supported are those who have consistent care throughout it.

What we look at together includes physical recovery and rebuilding nutrient reserves after birth, mood, anxiety and emotional support, fatigue and sleep quality, breastfeeding support, and infant care questions as they arise. Every consultation is tailored to where you are right now - whether you're two weeks postpartum or ten months in and still not feeling like yourself.
