Postpartum Support - The Parts of New Motherhood Nobody Told Me About

Postpartum support isn't only about surviving sleepless nights - it's also about making space for the beautiful parts of new motherhood.

People warned me about all of it.

The birth. The sleep deprivation. The sore boobs. The changes to your body. The loss of freedom. The fear of losing yourself.

And they weren't wrong.

Those things can be hard.

But somewhere amongst all the warnings, people forgot to tell me about the parts that took my breath away.

Everyone says, just you wait.

Just you wait and see how hard giving birth is.

Then just you wait until you hold them for the first time and suddenly nothing else matters.

Just you wait until your boobs are sore from breastfeeding.

Then just you wait until they fall asleep feeding and you smell that sweet milky breath.

Just you wait until you lose your independence.

Then just you wait until those tiny hands reach for yours.

Just you wait until you forget who you were before.

Then just you wait until you realise how much of yourself is still there.

One of the things I love about offering postpartum support is helping women hold space for both things at once.

Motherhood can be exhausting and beautiful.

You can miss parts of your old life and still deeply love this season.

You can feel stretched and transformed without losing yourself entirely.

Because motherhood doesn't always take you away from yourself.

Sometimes it introduces you to parts of yourself you hadn't met yet. If you're looking for some extra support, book a free 10 minute chat today xx
