Restorative Dandelion Latte

A few years ago, I began having pretty regular bouts of gallbladder pain (issues with the gallbladder are a common thread in my family). Not one to consider immediately removing an organ because it was dysfunctioning, I turned to my herby's and trialled drinking a few cups of dandelion root tea throughout the day to help with bile production and storage—sounds gross, but worked wonders!

It's now been years since I've had gallbladder pain, but I still enjoy the occasional dandelion root tea. My favourite way to enjoy it is in a Restorative Dandelion Latte with whole milk, or homemade cashew milk. The creaminess balances the bitterness perfectly, making for a delicious, frothy blend that feels both nourishing and grounding.

If you’re looking for a rich, caffeine-free alternative to coffee, this Dandelion Latte Recipe is a must-try. Made with roasted dandelion root, it mimics the bitterness of coffee while offering digestive, liver-supportive, and mineral-rich benefits.

Why I Love This Restorative Dandelion Latte

Roasted dandelion root has long been used in herbal medicine for its ability to support liver function, aid digestion, and provide prebiotic fiber for gut health. When blended with warm milk, adaptogens, and collagen, it becomes a creamy, nourishing drink that’s perfect for slow mornings or cozy evenings.

Ingredients:

2 tsp roasted dandelion root blend

1 cup boiling water

1/2 - 3/4 cup milk of choice (I love whole milk or homemade cashew milk)

1 tsp collagen powder (I use Barefoot Skincare)

1/4 tsp adaptogen of choice (I’m currently using SuperFeast Jing powder)

1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional, for warmth)

1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional, for depth)

1 tsp maple syrup or raw honey (optional, for sweetness)

Pinch of sea salt (enhances flavour)

Method:

Place roasted dandelion tea in a heatproof jug, pour in boiling water, and steep for 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, blend milk, collagen powder, and adaptogens in a milk frother or heat gently on the stovetop.

Strain the tea into your favourite mug.

Pour the warm, frothed milk over the tea and stir.

Enjoy!

Customisations & Variations

For an extra creamy latte, add a teaspoon of grassfed butter or cashew butter.

Add a teaspoon of cacao powder for a mocha-style variation.

This Restorative Dandelion Latte Recipe is a beautiful way to enjoy a warm, coffee-free ritual while still getting that deep, roasted flavour. Whether you’re cutting back on coffee, looking for an evening alternative, or simply love a nourishing herbal latte, this recipe is a perfect way to slow down and savour the moment.
